Happy Holidays Scripps Ranch Families.
As we quickly approach the new year I thought it would be a good idea to provide everyone with an update on the 2021 Spring Season.
In any normal year we would all be planning for rec season assessments the first weekend in January. This year we will have to make some adjustments.
The state of California has recently provided more guidance on what sports can be played and when they can be played. Guidance HERE. Please read this when you get a moment, but here is the summary as it applies to softball and our league.
As of December 14th softball has been classified as a moderate-contact outside sport permitted for game play in the Red Tier. What does this mean?
- Practices can and will begin once the stay at home order has been lifted. “Physical conditioning, practice, skill-building, and training that can be conducted outdoors, with 6 feet of physical distancing, and within stable cohorts are authorized regardless of county tier status.”
- Softball games may be played when San Diego County enters the Red Tier. “Inter-team competitions (i.e., between two teams) will not be allowed in California until January 25, 2021, at the earliest, based on the guidelines outlined in this document. The return-to-competition date will be reassessed by January 4, 2021
Below I have a rough outline of what our season can look like if the January 25th date holds. We will adjust this calendar if the state pushes the date back.

I can assure you that the board is doing everything possible to safely get our girls back on the fields as soon as possible.
The state will reassess the planned return-to-competition date by January 4, 2021 based on California disease transmission trends and is subject to change at any time given the level of COVID-19 transmission in California. We will continue to communicate our plans with you as we move forward pending state guidelines.
